We are a continuum 連続体

連続体

We are a continuum: We activate our life force through the connection with all

There is so much disconnect both on the macro and the micro levels I observe everyday. I have been researching how we can get back to the state of completeness - so complete and content that we don’t need to go and look for who we are outside of us.

1) Connect Within

Our body is a microcosmos and all the parts need to be connected to make it work. For instance, when our head moves, our pelvis, chest, ribs, and feet all move. When our digestive system doesn’t work properly, it impairs other systems. Our mental stress manifest in physical ailment and vice versa. The first step to the holistic living is to connect these dissociated parts together, understanding how: one body part connects to another, our thought pattern affects our actions, and what we eat create who we are.

2) Connect With Another

Everyday, we have interpersonal interactions. In fact, it is not an exaggeration to say that the majority of the reasons for everyday stress comes from the challenges in interpersonal relationships. People who appear in our lives are our mirrors in one way or another. Whether the person is someone I know or a stranger, I find every interaction with another person bring unsolved elements in my life to the surface. When I can open myself to another person, the energy and the power we create magnify. Switching from the ‘other-centered’ view of life to the ‘I-the subject centered’ view and look into what gets in the way of making this connection will shift your outlook about people and life greatly.

As we horn in our skills of looking into ourselves, we start understanding other people better, seeing what’s on the surface and what is lurking underneath. In turn, it give us deeper understanding of who we are.

3) Connect With the Universe

Throughout our lives, we connect with others and our environment via direct and indirect contact. Our skin’s surface touches the ground and the air around us. We touch someone’s heart when we open up ourselves. When that happens, our body’s energy circulates with that of the universe.

“I live in the facial expressions of the other, as I feel him living in mine.”

― Maurice Merleau-Ponty

We start our lives when our skin touches the air as we come out of our mother’s womb. We finish our lives when the last breath leaves our body.

“The world and I are within one another.”
“The flesh is at the heart of the world.”

―
Maurice Merleau-Ponty

Through our connection with the visible and the invisible beings, we activate our life force. This is our most natural state of being.

Circular Motion

The force that comes out from our bodies go around the world and comes back to our bodies.

“I believe that the unity of mind and body is an objective reality. - Moshe Feldenkrais
