Human beings have transformational potential in their abilities regardless of their age or condition. It is our disconnect from ourselves, others, and the world that often causes the physical and the emotional impairment as well as any other issues in life.
Through various somatic techniques, you will learn how to manage pain and move with ease and efficiency, rediscovering your true self-image and moving towards more wholesome and fulfilling life.

1) Examining the Individual Pattern and finding New pathways
Gentle movement explorations help the students learn to listen to what they are feeling and sensing in every moment. By discovering their habitual patterns and making changes in them, they move towards managing and relieving pain.
2) Connecting Mind and Body
The students will learn how their minds manifest in bodies and bodies in minds. They will see how their individual memories and histories are affecting their present actions, causing physical and mental pain. With guided body meditation, they will get to know the root of the problem and restore natural alignment of body/mind.
3) Weekly work (for the students of weekly sessions only)
Following each session, students will be given specific work for the week. The nature of the work depends on the individual student. This work will be discussed in the following session.
It depends on the person. Many people tend to benefit from taking multiple sessions because of the continuity.
Through our life’s paths, we experience all kinds of emotions. Strong emotions that arose during certain experiences stay with us for a long time, forming and fixing our patterns and habits. Our behavior is governed by the habits and the patterns registered into our brain. We tend to interpret what happens to us in everyday life through this habitual mind/body set, fabricating illusions not based on facts. Whether it’s a health condition or an interpersonal relationship that is troubling you, the first step to see the truth is to pause and listen. In our sessions, we search and locate the physical life of these emotions in the body and move towards creating new pathways.
We tend to see the world through our ideas, preferences, standards, and value system, judging or accepting the given and without asking questions. What we consider ‘obvious’ is often not so obvious when we look at it on the molecular and wholistic level. By having the scrutinized eyes into self and the world, we can see and feel the true form of what we consider as ‘reality’. Our body is the only reality.
ONE: Body Part to Body Part
All body parts are connected. When one part moves, everything else moves. However, often the time, we see only a small part of the whole picture which inhibits our ability, leading us to the reductionistic view of ourselves, other people, and society.
When we become aware of all the parts of the body and their connections, our movements will become smooth, easy, and purposeful. Our self-image will change and affect the choices we make in life. Connecting with the whole will bring ease to movements, revive circulation, restore vitality. It’ll also make you a better communicator and help you prevent injuries.
TWO: Body and Mind
Body and mind are one. Our psychology is affected by our physicality and vice versa. Our memories and histories are accumulated in the tissues of our muscles, which affect our movements, perceptions, and actions, creating automatic responses over organic ones. The more you become aware of how your psyche and physique affect each other, the more options and choices you’ll start seeing.
THREE: Body and Environment / Space
Our body doesn’t exist in void, but in the context of our environment, governed by gravity. Sensing the environment around us through our bodies, we’ll become more tuned with what is happening underneath the surface. Honing our sensations to the energy flow within our bodies and in the universe, we’ll start understanding the ways and the reasons of occurring.
MODALITIES:
Through body as my main medium, I provide training for ease, efficiency, and expressivity. My teaching is applicable for ailment, performance, language skills, and interpersonal relationships.
My work draws from decades of my research about the human existence through literature, linguistics, anthropology, theatre and dance arts, and nutrition. Below are a few specific modalities I use in sessions.
Feldenkrais Method® is a somatic educational system developed by Moshe Feldenkrais, an Israeli engineer and physicist. It is a dynamic and fluid method that works on rewiring brain's network. The method helps people develop a functional awareness of the self in the environment by bringing awareness to the habitual patterns and enhancing their changes. Human beings have transformational potential and ability to learn regardless of their age or the condition.
Energy Work connects the energy of an individual body with that of the universe by opening up the channels and letting the unlimited universe energy flow into them.
Posture manifests our inner states and conditions. Focusing on the source of the imbalance of body, mind, and spirit, Posture Balance restores the most functional posture, true to the individual, strengthening and healing overall health.
Body Weather is a method/training conceived by a Japanese dancer, Min Tanaka. It is a research into one’s body through self-observation and its connection with the environment. The training includes: sensory work that activates different sensations of the body, rigorous rhythmical exercise that stimulates the brain and makes one aware of his habits and patterns, and partner work that calls for sensitivity to and awareness of how one’s body relates to another body.
Noh is 700-year old Japanese traditional performing art, packed with ancient wisdom. Its principles are directly applicable not only to today’s performers but also everybody who wants to become connected with himself through spacial and temporal sense, grounding and alignment.
Performing arts such as theatre and dance is about the study of human being. Through 30 years of my performing arts career, I’ve been observing and studying what resided in the depth our our being as well as how mind and body connect.
My performing arts training from the east and the west includes: modern dance Limon technique, Roy Hart extended voice, Dance improvisation, Theatre direction, Michael Chekhov acting technique, 18 years of teaching theatre and dance at universities and communities, 15 years of making my own dance theatre works and touring, running Asian American theatre company, choreographing and movement coaching for regional theatres, artist residencies in Europe, etc.etc.etc - all these experiences asked me the same question - Who Are You? Your art is the reflection of you. You are the art. My performing arts training taught me how to Live My True Nature. This is the ultimate goal of my teaching somatic work and performance.
